Having an active lifestyle, Ciarra constantly questioned what many women in the Black Community question. ‘How can I keep a hairstyle in good condition and remain active?’ OR ‘What is the best hairstyle that is versatile but doesn’t require a lot of maintenance?’ At one point, wash-n-go up do’s and cornrows were her best friend. Blowouts would be short lived due to either her weekly activity or the weather. She desired and gravitated towards hairstyles that were low/mid maintenance, versatile and stylish.

At the age of 17, she obtained her first traditional sew in. It was an experience that awed her, as she never saw the benefit for herself. She was amazed at how simple her morning routines were and how well the hair could hold despite her weekly activity. Some time after this experience she was introduced to wigs and it was game over! The attraction to wigs was strong, as the relationship with her hair was (and still is) in constant change regarding color, length and texture. Wigs and sew ins provided the opportunity to play with these elements in the short term, without having to commit in longer term or ultimately damaging her natural hair. The challenge was getting her hands on great quality hair that agreed with her bank account (ok!).

This search occurred for years, and years. She managed to obtain some decent hair during this time, however in most cases, the hair or the wig units would not check all of her boxes. Some purchases resulted in units not fitting correctly, over shedding from the unit or bundles and hair textures becoming easily tangled. The purpose of this process was to be able to re-wear and reuse and if that could not be done, then what was the point. During the Spring of 2020, a word was placed on her heart to use the gift and talents given to her from God for the benefit of others. If she obtained the resources to provide quality in the areas of hair care, providing confidence and versatility, it would be selfish to keep it to herself.
